Descripció
Sumari:This paper aims to describe and systematize the main existing technologies for vertical garden systems and discusses the benefits of implementing them at the building scale. The methodology consists of a literature review and the search for patents and products available in the market that help understand how the existing models operate and their advantages and disadvantages. The review shows that the vertical garden systems emerge as possible structures for planting in vertical surfaces; however, the success of these gardens is not only related to the proper choice of supporting technology, but also the irrigation system as well as the use of appropriate species to the climate and time of exposure to solar radiation. In discussing these issues, the paper aims to contribute to the dissemination of knowledge of this important typology of the green infrastructure.
