Zusammenfassung:The recognition of historical, artistic and memorial values of modern heritage buildings is relatively recent. For being a category of preexisting architecture still insufficiently studied under preservation point of view, its physical recuperation has been generating essential discussions between academics and professionals about the applicability of international recommendations for the restoration of monuments. Aiming at eliciting reflections on the many variables of analysis of historicized objects associated with the issues of authenticity that tangent conservation of modern architectural heritage, this article takes as the object of discussion the Vila Serra do Navio. The village is a company-town located in the Amapa State, in the middle of Amazon jungle, classified by IPHAN in 2011 as cultural heritage. Designed by the architect Oswaldo Arthur Bratke, born in Sao Paulo, the village was constructed in the 1960’s with an exceptional quality regarding technique, form, and aesthetics. The project is also associated with an important episode of Brazilian economic development, the mining explorations. Their buildings are suffering a continuous process of disfiguration. The aim of this article is to contribute with the discussions about future perspectives for the preservation of village’s modern buildings, addressing fundamental theoretical questions of restoration disciplinary field and the application of consolidated criteria of its international regulation documents of the 21st century.
