Description
Summary:During school years, people spend a significant part of their time in the school environment, which makes the quality of these buildings essential for the maintenance of users' health and energy consumption, especially tropical countries. Considering the variability of factors that make up the study of thermal comfort of human beings and several thermal comfort indexes, studies that classify and evaluate these differences are necessary. This article aims to analyze the main publications on thermal comfort in classrooms to generate important information that helps researchers and other professionals as architects and engineers. From Systematic Mapping Studies (SMS) and subsequent Systematic Literature Review (SLR), it was possible to identify the methods used by the researchers, the conditioning strategies of the analyzed environments, the sample value and the results found. Studies that used the Adaptive Thermal Comfort (ATC) Model were more compatible with thermal sensations of users than studies that used the Rational Thermal Comfort (RTC), Model. In tropical regions, the users’ adaptation should be considered, as well as the application of more than one method for assessing thermal comfort, to verify the most suitable model. These results express the need to carry out future research on this topic in Brazil, as well as the dissemination in indexed international journals.
