Sumario:Due to its proximity to the City of Cordoba, the appeal of its landscape and climate, La Calera was the first summer village in the hills (sierras). Today, its touristic and hotel-related activity is virtually zero. It has become a passing-through city that fails to take advantage of its roadways and railways to interconnect the city and that are used instead to passing through it. The city turns its back on the river, which is polluted, and whose banks are highly deteriorated. The hillsides show the deep wounds resulting from the mining activity in the territory, which combined with forest fires, the introduction of alien species and the construction of new neighborhoods have depleted the native flora and fauna. The land, formerly used by the rail freight transport, is in a state of neglect and shows great deterioration. On the basis of this panorama, a project was developed for the construction of an Urban Railway Linear Park with the intention of recovering, preserving and revaluing its natural and cultural heritage. This park would bring the inhabitants and visitors a meeting place that allows them to appreciate the environment, landscape, historic, artistic and heritage values of their surroundings.
