The investigation is in the first phase, which involves the particularities of the ways of contemporaries living as conditions of domestic habitat project processes, which is undertaking recognition, study of theories of living first. In this instance an array of domestic living conditions of contemporary whose purpose is to assist and arrange generated analysis of cases and subsequently contribute to its review, the matrix thereby participates as development work guide. The second phase is to analyze project processes that define architectural responses to these modes of contemporary life in order to extract criteria and guidelines, although they can’t be generalized, they could transcend and bring to the disciplinary field of architecture, specifically theory project as referral to the projective work. The third stage aims to define categories and project guidelines for the generation of contemporary domestic spaces. El presente artículo refiere a una investigación en curso sobre los procesos proyectuales de espacios domésticos contemporáneos en acuerdo con los modos de habitar actuales. Se parte de la hipótesis preliminar que los espacios con alto nivel de flexibilidad espacial responden adecuadamente a las diversas demandas presentes del habitar doméstico, entendiendo a la flexibilidad espacial en su sentido más amplio, que articula adaptabilidad y variabilidad; y supera la condición de programas cerrados que revelan división, segregación y aislamiento.Actualmente la investigación se encuentra en la primera fase de las tres planteadas: esta fase resulta medular, porque implica abordar las particularidades de los modos de habitar contemporáneos como condicionantes de los procesos proyectuales del hábitat doméstico, lo que supone emprender, primero, un reconocimiento y estudio de las teorías del habitar. En esta instancia se genera una matriz de condiciones del habitar doméstico contemporáneo cuyo fin es asistir y ordenar el análisis de los casos y posteriormente aportar a su revisión; de ese modo la matriz participa como guía del desarrollo del trabajo. La segunda fase consiste en analizar procesos proyectuales que definen respuestas arquitectónicas para esos modos de vida contemporáneos con el fin de extraer criterios y pautas que, si bien no pueden generalizarse, podrían trascender y aportar al campo disciplinar de la arquitectura, específicamente a la teoría del proyecto y como derivación a la labor proyectual. El tercer momento propone específicamente definir categorías y pautas proyectuales para la generación de los espacios domésticos contemporáneos.
