The article raises the implications of this model for the health and the benefits of the proposed alternative model would produce. Against the previous one, the article proposes a polynuclear and networked model, with compact settlements of different level and size, multifunctional, covering all the space, connected by channels of relationship that provide them similar opportunities of access to centers, science, culture, leisure, etc.Keywords: Health, territorial organization, sustainability. El modelo actual de desarrollo es económicamente globalista y deslocalizado territorialmente, siguiendo un patrón centro-periferia que acumula actividades y población en unas zonas mientras desertiza otras. Este modelo es económica, social y ambientalmente insostenible y energéticamente ineficiente porque exige la producción concentrada de la energía, porque requiere el desplazamiento de cantidades ingentes de mercancías y porque dificulta el aprovechamiento de las energías renovables que suelen disponerse de forma difusa en el territorio.El artículo plantea las repercusiones de este modelo para la salud y los beneficios que produciría el modelo alternativo propuesto.Frente a lo anterior, el artículo propone un modelo polinuclear y en red, con asentamientos compactos de diverso nivel y tamaño, polifuncionales, cubriendo todo el espacio, conectados por canales de relación que les proporcionen parecidas oportunidades de acceso a centros, ciencia, cultura, ocio, etcétera.Palabras clave: Sanidad, ordenación territorial, sostenibilidad.  Universidad de Cuenca 2013-02-18 info:eu-repo/semantics/article info:eu-repo/semantics/publishedVersion application/pdf https://publicaciones.ucuenca.edu.ec/ojs/index.php/estoa/article/view/293 10.18537/est.v002.n002.02 Estoa.
