Zusammenfassung: | This article analyzes the circumstances that made the Mexican port of Acapulco an international class destination. It originated in an academic discussion about the classic work of Richard Butler and / or his proposal of the life cycle of tourist areas. On this horizon, the article shows moments and promoters of its historical transformation. His first profile was that of an attractive resort to early national tourism. In the 1940s, federal policies interested in potentiating it marked the beginning of its international splendor. The speed of its changes germinated social and sustainability problems that would end up subtracting splendor. Despite rejuvenating trials, Acapulco represents a typical case of vital exhaustion of a tourist area.
