On this horizon, the article shows moments and promoters of its historical transformation. His first profile was that of an attractive resort to early national tourism. In the 1940s, federal policies interested in potentiating it marked the beginning of its international splendor. The speed of its changes germinated social and sustainability problems that would end up subtracting splendor. Despite rejuvenating trials, Acapulco represents a typical case of vital exhaustion of a tourist area. ark:/s22508112/9jqirtkz5 Este artículo analiza las circunstancias que hicieron del puerto mexicano de Acapulco un destino de clase internacional. Se originó en una discusión académica sobre el trabajo clásico de Richard Butler y/o su propuesta del ciclo vital de las áreas turísticas. En este horizonte, el artículo muestra momentos y promotores de su transformación histórica. Su primer perfil fue el de un balneario atractivo al temprano turismo nacional. En la década de 1940, políticas federales interesadas en potencializarlo marcaron el inicio de su esplendor internacional. La rapidez de sus cambios germinó problemas sociales y de sustentabilidad que terminarían restándole esplendor.
