From a series of measures to promote tourism activity, especially the enactment of laws 1.216/36, 1.298/38 and 1.401/41, an exceptional development of the hotel building took place. Within the framework of an improvement plan for infrastructure, equipment and services associated with tourism, the actions of private parties are considered, who, stimulated by tax benefits and financial guarantees emanating from the provincial State, contributed to the positioning of Mendoza as a relevant destination of the center West of Argentina The construction of hotels and hostels, both in the city center and in suburban or mountain areas, allowed the deployment of typologies, materialities and completely new scales for the time. The review of government reports, legislative texts, technical documentation from town hall archives and architectural journals, added to the advertisements of tourist guides, allow to describe the interaction between public policies and private actions in hotel matters, in the period studied. ark:/s22508112/7jy9w208c Este trabajo se propone indagar la relación entre las inversiones privadas en el sector hotelero y las políticas públicas de promoción del turismo, implementadas por administraciones neoconservadoras en Mendoza (Argentina) en el período 1932-1943. A partir de una serie de medidas de fomento de la actividad turística, en especial, de la sanción de las leyes 1.216/36, 1.298/38 y 1.401/41 se produjo un desarrollo excepcional de la edilicia hotelera. En el marco de un plan de mejora de infraestructuras, equipamientos y servicios asociados al turismo, se consideran las acciones de los privados, quienes, estimulados por beneficios impositivos y garantías financieras emanadas del Estado provincial, contribuyeron al posicionamiento de Mendoza como destino relevante del centro oeste de Argentina. La construcción de hoteles y hosterías, tanto en el centro de la ciudad como en áreas suburbanas o de montaña, permitió desplegar tipologías, materialidades y escalas totalmente novedosas para la época. La revisión de memorias de gobierno, textos legislativos, documentación técnica proveniente de archivos municipales y revistas de arquitectura, sumado a las publicidades de guías turísticas, permiten dar cuenta de la interacción entre políticas públicas y acciones privadas en materia hotelera, en el período estudiado. ark:/s22508112/7jy9w208c ark:/s22508112/7jy9w208c Universidad Nacional de Mar del Plata.
