This article will deal with the steady, though not linear, process that made up the holiday area of Buenos Aires province. To analyzed that process, there will be considered three intervening dimensions: the characterization of the seaside resorts and the building of roads –with its underlying ideas or intentions of projects and interventions– the policy design and the arise of a new sensibility. Here, we will focus on the 1920-40 period which, through the social and cultural transformations, paved the way for the arousal of tourist activities and the granting of territories for that aim, resulting in a process of mutual configuration. As a consequence of that process, the open and full of dunes Buenos Aires seaside became a touring landscape. Los cientos de kilómetros de extensas playas de arena con suave declive del litoral marítimo bonaerense será determinante para la conversión de ese frente costero en espacio turístico de sol y playa. El trabajo aborda el estudio de ese proceso ininterrumpido, aunque no lineal, que conformará el territorio del turismo bonaerense, a través de la interrelación de tres dimensiones: la caracterización de balnearios y construcción caminos, –sus ideas o intenciones subyacentes en proyectos e intervenciones– la construcción normativa, y la construcción de la sensibilidad focalizando la atención en el momento en que la transformación socio-cultural guiará la instalación de las prácticas turísticas, con la consecuente disposición del territorio para esas prácticas en un proceso de mutua configuración. Como emergente de ese proceso la costa abierta y medanosa del litoral bonaerense devendrá en paisaje turístico. Universidad Nacional de Mar del Plata.
