This article seeks to present a brief evolution of zoos and the work of the landscape architect in addressing these issues. These allow us to approach nature and became, in addition, sources of inspiration in designing open spaces. Los zoológicos son museos vivos que requieren el diseño del hábitat de cada animal en exhibición. La arquitectura de paisaje tiene el oficio de resolver la morada de las plantas y de la fauna en cautiverio, así como la morada provisional de los humanos que visitan estos espacios. El propósito de este artículo es mostrar una breve evolución de los zoológicos y el quehacer del arquitecto paisajista en la solución de estos proyectos, los cuales nos aproximan al contacto con la naturaleza, fuentes de inspiración para diseñar el espacio abierto.
