It will be seen that the glass used to cover some passages in Paris provoked the creation of both shopping malls and a new type of urban dweller. Glass will be understood as a transparent membrane between the public and the private space, as well as an element of protection and fascination. Mediante el empleo de la fuerza filosófica de lo banal, como herramienta propuestapor Benjamin, se harán conexiones entre el uso estructural del vidrio y ciertos aspectos clave del pensamiento de la modernidad. Se observará cómo el uso del vidrio para techar ciertos pasajes en París permitió la creación tanto de los centros comerciales como de un nuevo tipo de habitante urbano. Se estudiará el vidrio como membrana transparente entre el espacio público y privado, como elemento protector y de fascinación a la vez.
