An alternate solution is to be able to achieve a robusttree-planting program through sustainable design practices by landscape designers and through the implementation of public policies for their proper upkeep. Understanding the current state of the woods in the city is also necessary to properly administer this resource. La Organización Mundial de la Salud especifica que debe existir 12 metros cuadrados de área verde por habitante. Desde esa perspectiva la Ciudad de México requeriría 90 millones de metros cuadrados de área verde para satisfacer este parámetro. Una respuesta alternativa es lograr un arbolado vigoroso a travésdel diseño sustentable a cargo de los diseñadores de espacios abiertos y de la aplicación de políticas públicas para el adecuado manejo del mismo. Conocer el estado actual del arbolado es fundamental para gestionar adecuadamente dicho recurso.
