This process of appropriation is graphically represented in maps, which demonstrate how the borders and internal organization of the state overlapped. Maps thus construct, reproduce and naturalize discourses. En este artículo se revisan la delimitación y la representación de la región patagónica argentina en diversos mapas. Dicho espacio se incorporó tardíamente al país sudamericano y se caracterizó como frontera en discursos que mezclan la línea y el territorio. Este proceso de apropiación está representado gráficamente en los mapas, lo cual permite evidenciar cómo las fronteras estatales y las de organización interna de Estado se superponen. Así, el mapa se erige en constructor, reproductor y naturalizador de discursos.
