Sumario:This article presents a discussion about the city space as a product of the social relations of actors and models of development that throughout history have contributed to its configuration. The role of the State has been transmuted in accordance with the empowerment of the promoters supported in the logic of the speculation and the gain; however, in the social experiences lies a more humane urban model, based on the rescue of the socialization process.Keyword: Urban development, political conflict, social policy and social exclusion
