It aims to highlight a particular usage of sculpture in relation to architecture that some have considered to be a failure and others to be anachronistic, arguing that it has played a central role in Brasilia’s experience as a modern city. El artículo aborda la relación entre la escultura figurativa de José Pedrosa y la arquitectura moderna de Oscar Niemeyer en el Museo de la Ciudad (Brasilia, 1958-1960), desde la perspectiva que Gautherot asumió en las fotografías tomadas del entonces recién construido edificio cerca de 1960. El objetivo es resaltar cómo la fotografía buscó la integración de la escultura figurativa con la arquitectura moderna; integración que si bien unos han considerado malograda y otros, anacrónica, es fundamental en la experiencia de Brasilia como ciudad moderna.
