The fourth BIA, held in 1999, represented a pivotal moment that would guide architectural production and debates in the new millennium. Este artículo espera contribuir a la comprensión del papel desempeñado por las principales exposiciones de arquitectura, en particular el caso de la Bienal Internacional de Arquitectura de São Paulo (BIA), como espacio de debate y formación de redes de diálogos transnacionales, además de su importancia en la presentación de exponentes que asumirían posiciones prominentes en periodos posteriores.
