In the light of reflections about environmental justice, and within a methodological perspective that considers the different discursive strategies involved in the conflict, this work aims to show that the neo-extractive development model adopted produces profound socio-environmental inequalities and expands the possibilities for the emergence of the conflict. Este trabalho estuda os conflitos ambientais em curso em Caetité e Pindaí, na Bahia, Brasil, em decorrência da implantação do projeto Pedra de Ferro, que pretende extrair minério de ferro na região com vistas à exportação. À luz das reflexões acerca da justiça ambiental, e dentro de uma perspectiva metodológica que considera as diferentes estratégias discursivas envolvidas no conflito, este trabalho objetiva mostrar que o modelo de desenvolvimento neoextrativista adotado produz profundas desigualdades socioambientais e amplia as possibilidades para a emergência do conflito.
