Sumario:In the context of entrepreneurialism of cities, new economic activities are beginning to be stimulated, including that related to the financial market, real estate sector, services in general and tourism sector. With the objective of analyzing how the development of tourism contributes to urban entrepreneurialism, this research focused on the local mega-events politics, having as object of a case of study the French city of Lyon. This is a descriptive and explanatory research with a qualitative approach in the collection and processing of data. Interviews were carried out with Lyon municipal managers, documentary research and on-site observations during 2015 and 2017. As result, it was possibly to verify that the capture of mega-events is considered a strategic issue of the urban agenda lyonnaise, and it is one of the main routes chosen for affirmation of the metropolis in the international scene. Tourism is one of the main arguments justifying this type of decision.
