| Resumo: | The industry acquired since the first decades of the 20th century an important role as a paradigm of progress and modernity. The pioneers of the Modern Movement discerned in industrial buildings the keys to a new monumentality that represented the values of the modern era. The financial crisis and the consequent industrial restructuring, as a result of conceptual and structural changes in the global economy and technological changes in production systems, provoked from the decades of the sixties and seventies of the last century, the beginning of a process of deindustrialization. Its effects were disastrous and created a landscape where surfaced as symbols of the past, the ruins of the buildings that for decades were considered a symbol of progress and future. These industrial remains, abandoned and destitute of the function for which they were exclusively created, acquire now, involuntarily, formal, spatial and aesthetic values for which, initially, they were not designed. These industrial ruins give rise to unique and unrepeatable landscapes. In developing this article, we intend to unveil new values and identities in these landscapes from a perspective that includes a sensitivity that has nothing to do with which the modern pioneers approached to exalt the industrial aesthetic. It is also objective of this article, discover new intervention possibilities in these landscapes, departing from the understanding of these industrial ruins in its current state as elements not only of a bygone era but above all, of their condition and projection in the definition of future landscapes. |
