description The present work exposes diverse approaches of the design with which the problems of the greater adult can be tackled significantly. The objective is to illustrate the relevance of the interdisciplinary work and the active participation of the older adult user in the course of design. For this purpose, the methodology offered by the User-Centered Design (UCD) and the co-creation based on consensus are selected as fundamental aspects that allow a reflection on the role of the designer during the process. The systemic complexity, whether practical or theoretical, observed through the exercise of the project, has led to the conclusion that the designer can contribute not only by offering a product consistent with the problems observed and the trajectory of the events discussed, recognized aspect of the discipline. It can furthermore articulate the diverse expert views in a solution that is integrated to the multidimensional complexity of the user in his old age, which implies considering his potential physical, cognitive deterioration, social exclusion, economic precariousness, but also from his speech consider his experiential capital shaped as a discursive totality that includes emotionality, behaviours, attitudes and reasoning, facilitating and generating creative divergence of the diverse participating knowledges, through collaborative platforms for the active call of those involved.

El presente trabajo expone diversos enfoques del diseño desde los cuales pueden abordarse significativamente las problemáticas del adulto mayor. El objetivo es ilustrar la relevancia del trabajo interdisciplinar y la participación activa del usuario adulto mayor en el transcurso del diseño. Para ello, se seleccionó la metodología que ofrece el diseño centrado en el usuario (DCU) y la co-creación basada en el consenso, como aspectos fundamentales que permiten reflexionar acerca del papel del diseñador durante el proceso. La complejidad sistémica, ya sea práctica como teórica, observada en el ejercicio del proyecto, ha arrojado como conclusión que el diseñador puede aportar no solo ofreciendo un producto consecuente a las problemáticas observadas y a la trayectoria de los eventos discutidos —aspecto reconocido de su disciplina— sino que también puede articular las diversas miradas expertas en una solución que se integre a la complejidad multidimensional del usuario en su etapa de vejez, lo que implica considerar su potencial deterioro físico, cognitivo, exclusión social, precariedad económica, pero también, desde su discurso, considerar su capital experiencial conformado como una totalidad discursiva que incluya emocionalidad, conductas, actitudes y raciocinio, facilitando y generando divergencias creativas de los diversos saberes que participan, por medio de plataformas colaborativas, a la convocatoria activa de los involucrados.
