Περίληψη: | Esmeralda Street, a traditional bohemian neighbourhood of the city, has been incorporated within a government program of national urban interest, creating an attractive public event for local businesses during the summer period. The aim of this program is to promote the local development, positioning aspects such as identity and inclusion within the urban economy. Despite the above, it is noted that the Boulevard de Verano, as this event in Esmeralda Street has been called, owes its celebrity not only to the image projected by its function and the aesthetics of its bohemian neighbourhood, but also to the urban design principle of versatility of the public space. The hypothesis is that the attributes of versatility of public space of the place, in addition to the land use function and aesthetics attributes of the street, produce the success of the event circumscribed to the summer season of the city. The methodology used is qualitative, in which through marginal observation and interviews certain patterns are established, and through the static snapshot methods, from the Space Syntax theory, a cartography with the results is constructed. The conclusions show that the neighbourhood possesses a versatility that is occasional, and based not only on the activities that unfold during the event, but also because they find a pertinent location within the urban morphology of the place. |
