要約: | This article presents a discussion from a physical-spatial perspective about the contemporary city as an other condition, based on three images and their correlation with three notions previously researched by the author. First, the notion of altopia (1999-2010), which describes the other places as a physical and conceptual waste of current urban development. Second, accidental city (2009), which accounts for the growing distance between urban projects and the resulting experience within the instrumentality of the present. Last, the urban vernacular (2017), which defines the solutions which people use to deal with everyday problems, establishing new traditions and social relations very characteristic of the urban space. Methodologically, the research is a descriptive analysis of the physical-spatial record, from which the discussion starts based on the experience present in the photographs, and in relation to classical and contemporary authors. It is concluded that the three revised notions imply different scales and levels of depth on the city as an other experience, being of interest the participatory role of the people in the determination of this otherness, as it ends up achieving in the notion of urban vernacular. |
