The text links in first discussions about the understanding of the city as a drawing in space, moving to describe, the growth of the city, integrating its historical, social and cultural structuring. El propósito de este artículo se vincula a las formas de recuperación de unos espacios sociales y urbanos caídos en el olvido que se evidencian en la transformación social del espacio urbano en Bogotá entre 1850 y 1880. El texto vincula en primer lugar las discusiones en torno a la comprensión de la ciudad como una elaboración en el espacio, para pasar a describir, el crecimiento de la ciudad integrando sus estructuraciones históricas, sociales y culturales.
