Colombia y gran parte de los países de Latinoamérica, ha propiciado una posición desventajosa para la protección de los ecosistemas naturales. Es una adaptación correctiva de las fallas del mercado, que trata de matizar específicamente los efectos colaterales del mercado y el consumo. Ante el despiadado avance de la locomotora que representa el desarrollo, de manera alterna, un importante grupo de pensadores concuerdan con rescatar los pensamientos de nuestros antepasados indígenas y su respeto por la madre tierra en un proceso de generación de alternativas aplicables a partir de las cartas políticas de cada país y sus planes de desarrollo, con la incluida valoración de sus individualidades culturales y ecosistémicas.
