The works presented in the following article depict a greater concern towards social and environmental issues, while taking into account valuable meanings for public space symbolic appropriation, sense of identification and ownership, recuperating and reinterpreting the heritage of twentieth–Century experiences such as Oscar Präger’s (naturalistic), Carlos Martner’s (cultural), Amereida’s (phenomenological) and Ritoque’s Open City Entre la conspicua producción arquitectónica chilena de las últimas dos décadas, es posible encontrar las semillas de una naciente sensibilidad acerca del paisaje y de la arquitectura de espacios al aire libre. Las obras que se exponen en el siguiente artículo muestran una mayor maduración rumbo a problemáticas ambientales y sociales, al mismo tiempo, se hace cargo de significados valóricos para la apropiación simbólica del espacio público y el sentido de identificación y pertenencia. Todo lo anterior recuperando y reinterpretando la herencia de experiencias del siglo XX, como la naturalista de Oscar Präger, la cultural de Carlos Martner, la fenomenológica de Amereida y la Ciudad Abierta de Ritoque.
