Therefore, this article aims to carry out a bibliographic review based on international references that allow the identification of management strategies by approaches that have been developed over the last twenty years (1998-2018) around water sources worldwide and giving a special focus to Latin America. This review aims to perceive where the solutions of the different problems that are woven around the water resource are being directed and thus identify which are the strategies that have yielded the best results. Dado que el recurso hídrico es un elemento fundamental para garantizar la seguridad ambiental, social y económica del presente y futuro desarrollo humano, se hace relevante el priorizar el cuidado y recuperación de las fuentes hídricas ya que estas son fundamentales en la estructura ecológica principal de las ciudades alrededor del mundo y por esto son claves las estrategias de gestión en la resolución del conflicto hídrico. Por lo anterior, este articulo tiene como objetivo la realización de una revisión bibliográfica que tenga como base los referentes internacionales que permitan identificar cuáles son las estrategias de gestión por enfoques que se han venido desarrollando a lo largo de los últimos veinte años (1998-2018) en torno a las fuentes hídricas a nivel mundial y dando un enfoque especial a Latinoamérica. Con esta revisión se pretende percibir hacia donde se están encaminando las soluciones de las diferentes problemáticas que se tejen en torno al recurso hídrico y así identificar cuáles son las estrategias que han arrojado los mejores resultados.
