Description
Summary:Vernacular architecture is considered an important manifestation of culture; without this clarity it is not possible to make contributions that guarantee its continuity in the present context. To this end, the analysis of the culture-city relationship should be carried out from the point of view of: the human factor and the inherited culture. In contemporary architecture, it is possible to perceive a deterioration and at the same time a regression due to the proliferation of unaesthetic elements. This phenomenon also raises a question derived from the fact that people see popular culture as constitutive of their own tradition, so that the dilemma lies in defining what it really is--is it "neoeclecticism", vernacular architecture or kitsch?By means of a historical-architectural and social approach, which relies on the use of the exploratory observation method, the phenomenon is investigated to understand the term "vernacular" in its relationship with culture, and thus identify viable alternatives to address the current problem.
