Nevertheless, it is important to note that this interest is a relevant and hopeful indicator for future planning of our cities.This work aims at clarifying some of these issues particularly in the case of pre-Hispanic South America, where the large number of fragile and interrelated ecosystems that exist in the diverse geography, together with the climatic and geologic instability, caused the men to develop, through a very long period of time, knowledge oriented to find technological means that were necessary to integrate in harmony with nature. Unlike other cultures, these men developed a particular way of seeing and understanding the world as a living organism where men is an interrelated part. La preocupación que existe hoy por el medio ambiente o el ambiente natural en el cual viven los seres humanos, no es nada nuevo en la historia de la humanidad y su incidencia en los entornos urbanos. Sin embargo, se debe reconocer que ese interés es un indicador muy relevante y esperanzador para la planificación futura de nuestras ciudades.Este trabajo, busca dilucidar algunos de estos temas en el particular caso sudamericano prehispánico, donde la enorme cantidad de frágiles e interrelacionados ecosistemas que alberga la variedad geográfica, unida a su inestabilidad climática y geológica, hizo que el hombre desarrollara a lo largo de miles de años, un conocimiento y un pensamiento dirigido a encontrar los medios tecnológicos necesarios para buscar la forma de integrarse armónicamente a la Naturaleza. Para esto, a diferencia de otras culturas, desarrolló el particular modo de ver y entender el mundo como un todo vivo e interrelacionado del que el hombre es parte indesligable, que se muestra en este trabajo.
