These seminars were the meeting point between the theoretical world and the professional practice, as well as among architects dedicated to education, criticism and history. Chile participated actively in these meetings with a positive balance in their early years. However, the influence of the SAL has declined. This text raises three issues to explain the loss of influence of the original SAL fromthe perspective of a member of this forum. Los Seminarios de Arquitectura Latinoamericana (SAL) tuvieron –desde su creación en Buenos Aires en 1985– un destacado rol en la cultura arquitectónica latinoamericana en las décadas de los ’80 y ’90. En torno a ellos se articuló el encuentro entre el mundo teórico y el de la práctica profesional, entre los arquitectos dedicados a la enseñanza, la crítica y la historia. Chile participó activamente de estos encuentros con un balance positivo en sus primeros años. Sin embargo la influencia de los SAL ha decaído. Este texto plantea tres reflexiones para intentar explicar la pérdida de influencia de los SAL originales desde la mirada de un país miembro de este foro. Universidad de Chile.
