Las vanguardias arquitectónicas de principios del siglo xx se conciben a sí mismas desde una condición de ahistoricidad, de ruptura total con el desarrollo histórico anterior.Sin embargo, al estudiar el siglo que hizo de la crisis un concepto central de su proyecto, sepueden descubrir líneas de continuidad que desenmascaran a las supuestas crisis: es el análisis de la continuidad procedimental de la arquitectura, basada en la estructura del proyecto como una estructura intermediaria entre idea y realidad, ligada fuertemente a unamatriz pictórica, el núcleo del artículo.
