This project, located in the Parque de los Reyes, develops from a tridimentional conjunction of a cilinder and a biridectional triangle. Both sumarize the idea of virtually joining two directions: the Pacific and the Mediterranean, and projecting them through a vertical axis which symbolizes a link with the universe. Matta's paintings are understood as the building's windows, opening to the cosmic landscape and showing new horizons. The project goes beyond its function and becomes a true cultural event. A partir de una proposición de Roberto Matta desde Italia, para construir un centro cultural en Santiago, se plantea una intervención inscrita en las acciones de renovación urbana del sector de Santiago Poniente. Ubicado en el Parque de los Reyes, el proyecto se desarrolla a partir de la conjunción tridimensional de un cilindro con un triángulo bidireccional, sintetizando la idea de unir virtualmente dos direcciones - al Pacífico y al Mediterráneo -, proyectándolas a través del Eje Vertical, verdadero enlace con el universo. Las pinturas de Matta serán las ventanas del edificio, que se abrirán hacia paisajes cósmicos, mostrando nuevos horizontes. El proyecto propuesto trasciende así su función, es un acto simbólico, es una verdadera operación cultural. Universidad de Chile.
