| 总结: | The United Nations General Assembly has adopted this year as the International Year of Shelter for the Homeless by “focusing on the situation of millions of homeless people and those who live on the streets, spend the night in hallways, subway stations and entrances of public buildings and those who lost their homes as the result of natural or man-induced disasters; this event is also an opportunity to take actions on such an issue.” “(…) Attention is also given to the situation of hundreds of millions of people who lack proper housing and live in poor sanitary conditions in urban slums and poor rural areas.” (Source: Commission on Human Settlements, United Nations: International Year of Shelter for the Homeless. Action Plan for the Period 1986-1987. Turkey, 1986.) In line with this goal, the Scientific Society of Chile organized a meeting entitled “The Lack of Housing and Its Social Consequences”, which saw the participation of prominent representatives from the different entities involved in the housing process. The objective of this session was to promote the study, analysis and discussion of solutions to the homelessness issue and its consequences on the quality of life of people. |
