Added to this service is the provision of training and organizational support to the urban inhabitants of Santiago. This paper was written by Architects Silvia Araos (University of Chile) and Rodolfo Jiménez (University of Chile) and summarizes the proposal entitled “Improving and Densifying (a Contribution to Government Policies)”, which was submitted by Taller Norte to the Ministry of Housing and Urban Development in October, 1990. Taller Norte es un Centro Urbano de Asistencia Técnica constituido por Arquitectos, Asistentes Sociales, Comunicadores populares y Educadores de adultos, además de un grupo de Monitores Técnicos de Base. A la asistencia técnica agregan capacitación y apoyo organizativo a pobladores urbanos de la ciudad de Santiago. Este artículo fue preparado por los Arquitectos (U. de Chile), Silvia Araos y Rodolfo Jiménez, y es una síntesis de la propuesta denominada «Mejoramiento Habitacional con Densificación (Contribución a una política de gobierno)», presentada por Taller Norte al Ministerio de Vivienda y Urbanismo en Octubre de 1990.
