Para ello se elaboró un marco teórico que integra conceptos de la sociología y de la arquitectura en una perspectiva transdisciplinaria. The results coming from a social survey are shown here. Such survey was carried out through a structured questionnaire applied 8 residential gropu, in 4 regions representative of a housing sector in Chile and of the number of solutions by the Neighborhood Improving Program (Programa de Mejoramiento de Barrios) in the 1982-1992 period. The aim was to get to know the relationship between the social and physico-spatial variables and the progressive development process. So as to achieve this, a theoretical framework was developed which integrates concepts coming from sociology and architecture n a interdisciplinary viewpoint.
