Necesidad de una planificación Sepúlveda Mellado, Orlando This paper analyzes the rural dwelling situation in Chile, which takes place within the agricultural modernization process, especially in the fruit production and forestry areas. Evidences is given of the reasons which have stopped the traditional country to city migration; the process of rural spatial resettling is acknowledged as well. This process has generated housing demands according to the new living conditions. Finally, the patterns for the development of a suitable housing development are suggested El presente artículo analiza la situación residencial de la población rural en Chile en el contexto modernizador del agro, especialmente en los rubros frutícola y silvícola. Comprueba y explica las razones que han contribuido a frenar la tradicional migración campo-ciudad, sin desconocer, no obstante, un proceso rural de reasentamiento espacial, generando demandas habitacionales en concordancia con las nuevas condiciones de vida. Finalmente sugiere los parámetros para desarrollar una planificación habitacional apropiada al sector rural moderno.
