Based on research started in 1986 and as part of a new project founded by the Department for Research and Development of the University of Chile this paper aims at making a brief summary of some concepts which now a days are somehow accepted, clearing up some dilemma about creativity which are usually approached in a rather unfavorable fashion. Siendo la creatividad una aspiración compartida por muchos campos, es aún un ámbito relativamente desconocido en su esencia, por lo que su desarrollo no siempre resulta pleno y fácilmente se frustra o se inhibe. Sobre la base de investigaciones iniciadas en 1986,- y como parte de un nuevo proyecto financiado por el Departamento de Investigación y Desarrollo de la Universidad de Chile-, se intenta aquí difundir resumidamente el estado de algunos conceptos que hoy concitan cierta aceptación, dirimiendo los principales dilemas que más habitualmente se abordan de un modo poco favorecedor de la creatividad.
