The workshop took place the 21st and 28th August and 11th and 25th September 1999 and was organized by the research project "Technological Alternatives for the improvement of the Popular Habitat" sponsored by the Research Council and the Faculty of Architecture and Urbanism, U.N.T. This training proposition was stated from a different concept of the teaching-learning process and of the University-Society relationship and most certainly from an unusual vision of the addressed sectors. The workshop allowed for the convergence of "habitat", "organization" and "learning", providing methodology and dynamics for the recovery and treasuring of the popular sectors own identity. Such work was done through a socio-pedagogical way bases on collective learning and knowledge production, which corresponded to a democratic and solidary socio-cultural style. Everything was based on a process in which groups, communities and institutions from the popular sector with the help of external agents, associated themselves to do research, get to know and understand their situation and problems and to propose their own action strategies since they are the true transformers of their habitat. El presente trabajo plantea una propuesta socio-pedagógica a través del Taller de capacitación: "Bases para el desarrollo autogestionario del hábitat popular", destinado a representantes de organizaciones vecinales de base y federativas del Gran San Miguel de Tucumán, y se inscribe dentro de una estrategia alternativa de investigación-acción participativa. El taller se realizó durante los días 21 y 28 de agosto y 11 y 25 de septiembre de 1999 y fue organizado por el Proyecto de investigación "Alternativas tecnológicas para el mejoramiento del hábitat popular', perteneciente al Consejo de Investigaciones y a la Facultad de Arquitectura y Urbanismo de la U.N.T. Esta propuesta de capacitación fue planteada desde la perspectiva de la interdisciplina con una concepción distinta del proceso de enseñanza-aprendizaje y de las relaciones universidad - sociedad y fundamentalmente, desde una visión peculiar de los sectores destinatarios. El taller permitió la convergencia entre “hábitat”, “organización” y “aprendizaje”, aportando una metodología y dinámica posibles para la recuperación valorativa de las propias identidades de los sectores populares, a través de un modo socio-pedagógico fundado en el trabajo colectivo de aprendizaje y producción de conocimientos, que a su vez se correspondió con un estilo socio-cultural democrático y solidario. Todo ello, se basó en un proceso en el que grupos, comunidades e instituciones del sector popular, con el aporte de agentes externos, se asociaron para investigar, conocer y comprender sus situaciones problemas y para proponer sus propias estrategias de acción ya que ellos son los verdaderos transformadores de su hábitat.
