Resumo:Given the different questioning about the appropriateness of the production of high rise social housing buildings, the present research presents a state ofart hy drawing a historical line that characterizes State produced multifamily economic housing and private investment and its qualitative properties. The analysis includes ÍCMA approaches and its application in Latin America and specifically the case of Bogotá, from State production to housing market consolidation during the 1990s. In this sense, the urban impacts of economic multifamily housing on the compact city model carried out in Bogotá are identifed, as well as its relation with land use policy. In this case, the value of urban land and housing market dynamics defined by a privileged location determine the quality and accessibility to Social Interest Housing (VIS). To that effect, projects across the city are identified, both built by the State and subsidized. To finish, considerations for applications in the city are proposed according research and theories about application of high densities and high rise social housing.
