El presente artículo tiene como objetivo mostrar el proceso de integración a la Ciudad de México de un territorio periférico habitado y construido por población migrante de los estados del sur de México, y especialmente por mixtecos provenientes desde el estado de Oaxaca. Se da cuenta del paso desde una primera estigmatización del espacio de la colonia hasta el actual orgullo de sus colonos por el equipamiento logrado a través de la organización comunitaria centrada en la Unión de Colonos.
