| Izvleček: | This article reveals information regarding the installation and construction of social housing developments and projects in Santiago de Chile and identi? es locational trends, causes and factors that explain these trends and their relationship with the socio-spatial structure. This collaboration shows the housing and urban policies of that period, regulatory aspects and the main changes that affected Greater Santiago. All information was retrieved from the Housing and Urbanization Service at the Ministry of Housing and Urban Development and secondary sources, for further analysis, georeference and conclusions. In addition, this article is the ? rst of two data collection stages of social housing complexes during the 2003-2009 period in order to obtain the full picture of social housing for the period spanning 1980-2009. The outcome of this research provides detailed evidence about the relationship between the locational trend and the radical changes to public policies regarding social housing; this trend was also consistent with the then-new economic model. This process gave birth to a new period that turned Santiago de Chile into a segregated and non-inclusive metropolis. |
