| Zusammenfassung: | The study of the typological adaptation process of residential architecture in Benalúa neighborhood, a unique consolidated area located in Alicante (Spain), is a key factor to understand the scope of the first housing policies implemented in Spain prior to the drafting of the General Plans back in the twentieth century. Such an initiative was put into action in 1956, along with the enactment of the first Land Bill of the country. This paper identifies the processes that, due to social, political or regulatory changes or pressure from the real estate market, defined the evolution of housing for over seven decades. Today, the consequences of this event have almost disappeared, confirming the intervention and influence of the State and municipalities on the determination of building types. |
