To begin with we reflect on the sense of the modern city through an analysis of recent changes in the metropolis. Then, we present the case study, which is analyzed from an urban, collective and private perspective. We seek to find the principles for further reflections on the reformulation of proposals on the production of urgent and transitory habitat; and above all —through the study of marginal ways of inhabiting— provide deeper insight into the definition of modern ways of inhabiting. Proponemos una revisión del fenómeno de los asentamientos espontáneos urbanos, a través del análisis concreto de una situación localizada en tiempo y lugar. Para ello, estudiamos el Asentamiento de Los Perdigones en el entorno de la Exposición Universal de 1992 en Sevilla, con el fin de relacionar las grandes transformaciones urbanas con las áreas altamente vulnerables. En principio, y de manera general, reflexionamos sobre el sentido de la ciudad contemporánea, mediante el análisis de los cambios experimentados en los últimos tiempos. Posteriormente, presentamos el caso de estudio, analizado desde la espacialidad urbana, colectiva y privada. Con todo, pretendemos encontrar claves, para la futura reflexión en la reformulación de propuestas en el ámbito de la producción de habitares urgentes y transitorios, y sobre todo, profundizar, a través de un habitar marginal, en la definición del propio habitar contemporáneo.
