El caso del programa habitabilidad, Chile Fuster Farfán, Xenia This paper addresses the importance of the social, cultural and territorial particularities that should be included in the social intervention agenda of the Habitability Program —a program overseen by the Ministry of Social Development. The inclusion of these dimensions is intended to contribute methodological differentiation and so improving the impact and sustainability of this Program and the quality of life of target families. Thus the question arises: What aspects of social, cultural and territorial variables should be included in the social component of the Habitability Program in order to strengthen the impact and sustainability of its intervention measures? Through a methodological qualitative strategy, an action-oriented research design and semi-structured interviews this exploratory paper provides a comparative analysis of three communes: Temuco, Arica and Camarones. The main findings of this research reveal the need to generate interventions consistent with contextual complexities, the importance of the environment as a variable and suggest the implementation of innovative practices when it comes to addressing cultural and territorial differences. Este artículo aborda la importancia de las particularidades sociales, culturales y territoriales que debería incorporar la intervención social del Programa Habitabilidad, dependiente del Ministerio de Desarrollo Social. Con el fin de contribuir con distinciones metodológicas concretas para mejorar el programa, tanto en su impacto y sustentabilidad, así como también en la calidad de vida de las familias participantes del mismo. Así, la investigación realizada se hace la siguiente pregunta: ¿Qué aspectos de las variables sociales, culturales y territoriales debería integrar el diseño del componente social del Programa Habitabilidad para fortalecer el impacto y la sustentabilidad de su intervención? Investigación de corte exploratorio que por medio de una estrategia metodológica cualitativa, con un diseño de investigación?acción y de entrevistas semi estructuradas como principal técnica, permitió realizar un análisis comparado de las comunas de Temuco, Arica y Camarones. Las principales conclusiones evidencian la necesidad de generar intervenciones coherentes con la complejidad contextual, la importancia del entorno como variable y la realización de prácticas innovadoras ante las diferencias culturales y territoriales.
