Barcelona como referencia Peremiquel Lluch, Francesc This article focuses on the urban regeneration carried out during the last forty years. It is based on the experience of Barcelona and its surroundings, highlighting the methods and instruments used in urban practice. In most cases, with different names but with equivalent purposes, it responds implicitly to this objective. It can be distinguished two periods that have a similar way of doing, using similar instruments of intervention. One is based on the return of the city and the other on the sustainability as development basic principle. This critical appraisal allows us to define some specific elements to consider in the future urban project program, both in terms of strategy and tactical intervention. All this brings us closer to a renewed model of regeneration, the urban regeneration 2.0.
