They provide a different type of source that allows us to have another look at the cities. In this opportunity we systematize and analyze those Jesuit texts which aimed to describe the urban settings they passed through.

Los jesuitas realizaron una extensa serie de viajes desde Europa a Buenos Aires, a fin de sumarse a la evangelización de la Provincia Jesuítica del Paraguay. Los reclutamientos en España, sus partidas –tanto de Sevilla/Cádiz como de Lisboa con escala en Río de Janeiro– y los aconteceres ocurridos en no menos de tres meses de viaje en barco, fueron motivo para la redacción de largos textos cargados de sentimientos de esperanza y asombro ante lo desconocido. Aportan un tipo de fuente diferente que nos permite tener otra mirada sobre las ciudades. Sistematizamos y analizamos en esta oportunidad aquellos textos jesuíticos que movieron a describir los escenarios urbanos donde pasaron.
