Las localidades del Conurbano Bonaerense permiten apreciar realidades sociales, económicas y urbanas sumamente diversas y contrastantes. Esta variedad, lejos de ser una marca de excepcionalidad, constituye un rasgo estructural que ha dado forma al suburbio desde comienzos del siglo XX. Concentrada en el componente obrero que pobló en sus orígenes su corredor industrial, la agenda de investigación soslayó la existencia de lo que en este artículo se denominará “el otro conurbano”: el de las clases medias y sus encuentros con otros actores sociales. Este trabajo se propone reconstruir parte de esta historia a partir del estudio de la conformación de tres localidades del primer cordón: Ciudad Jardín, Martín Coronado y Lomas del Palomar; las dos primeras pertenecían entonces al partido de General San Martín, y El Palomar, al partido de Morón.
