The goal is to understand the evolution of the architecture of this area and its development among three articulated variables: the topography of the place, the productive activities and the knowledge of the local builders. This research consists on descriptions and analysis of the testimonies of the inhabitants, with respect to their ways of producing architecture and the surveys of existing buildings, based on the field work carried out.

La tierra ha sido históricamente el material protagonista para la construcción de casas y edificios en el área altoandina. El presente artículo expone el caso de Nazareno, ubicado en un área hasta ahora poco estudiada, localizada entre la Puna y las Yungas. El objetivo se centra en entender el devenir de la arquitectura de esta zona y su desarrollo en torno a la articulación de tres variables: la topografía del lugar, las actividades productivas y los conocimientos de los constructores locales. El trabajo analiza y describe, a través de testimonios de los pobladores y de los relevamientos de edificios existentes, las formas de producir arquitectura.
