description During the 1960s there was a change of cultural paradigm, in which some female architects were able to stand out, under their own name, in professional activities such as design, building and research, fields traditionally occupied by men. The principal aim of this paper is to release the results of a biographical research on Chel Ita Negrin, one of the first and multifaceted Argentinian architects graduated in La Plata, Buenos Aires Province. She knew how to combine the traditional aspect of the profession with teaching, academic research and artistic explorations between Argentina and Mexico. In summary, this article is an attempt to contribute to the Latin American architecture historiography with a particular emphasis in gender perspective.

Al calor de los años sesenta del siglo XX, existió un cambio de paradigma cultural en el cual ciertas arquitectas pudieron destacarse con nombre propio en labores profesio­nales vinculadas a proyectar, construir e investigar en ámbitos tradicionalmente ocupados por hombres. El objetivo específico del artículo está puesto en la investigación biográfica de Chel Ita Negrin, una de las primeras y multifacéticas arquitectas argentinas graduadas en La Plata, provincia de Buenos Aires. Negrin supo entrelazar la tradición profesionalista con la docencia, la investigación académica y las exploraciones artísticas entre Argentina y México. En resumen, se intenta hacer un aporte a la historiografía de la arquitectura latinoamericana, con especial consideración de la perspectiva de género.
