Summary:Andreas Huyssen mentions that between the seventies and eighties a turn towards the past took place in the modernist culture. The architectural culture was not alien to that turn. Among the different forms it took, regionalism was, perhaps, one of the greatest impacts in Latin America. It was under that label that the discussion about modern architectural orthodoxia critique, the crisis of modernity and the question for identity took place.Focusing on the theoretical sources and their articulation, this paper aims to reconstruct part of the Latin American debates on regionalism to show the circulation of architectural ideas of the time.
